Santana "Zebop!"
Santana returns with their 1981 release, Zebop! An album of Rock and Latin feels, there's not a bad song on this album. Carlos Santana provides
his awesome guitar works, as the lead vocals were handled by Alex Ligertwood. Alex had been Santana's singer for many years, starting in the year 1979,
and in the 1980s decade and mid-1990s. The album's biggest hit was "Winning," and the song "Searchin'" also received heavy airplay.
Zebop! was Santana's 11th album.
The album starts with "Changes," written by Cat Stevens. A very good Pop-ish Rock song, it's the beginning of another great album by Santana.
"E Papa Re" begins with a dark guitar intro, and is a great Rock song overall. One type of music is certain on this album, is Latin. "Prima
Invasion" is an instrumental, and has a great Latin feel sound. Other good Latin Rock tunes: "Over And Over," "The Sensitive Kind," "Hannibal."
(All of these tracks have vocals.)
And speaking of Latin Rock music, there are two Latin instrumentals: "Tales Of Kilimanjaro," and the powerful "American Gypsy." If you
enjoyed Santana's instrumental "Europa" you will truly enjoy the nice, slow, easy feeling instrumental "I Love You Much Too Much."
A little touch of laid back Blues on "Brightest Star," a song that is just as cool as the Blues.
Add the two big hits "Searchin'" and "Winning," and this album is an easy favorite. Santana does it again with a good mix of Rock, Latin
music, and just a slight touch of the Blues. Zebop! will easily get the repeat button, for a good easy going album to listen to. If you enjoy
Latin music and Rock, Santana's Zebop! will be no exception.
